diy | purple sweater

Hi lovelies,

some weeks ago I finished another knitting project I was working on – a purple sweater. During the time I posted several shots of it on Instagram, so this project might not be really new for you. Maybe you already noticed it in this look I showed you some time ago, but as lightning conditions were not the best I decided to show it to you in another post – so now, here it is 🙂 .

While I was looking for a knitting project in September last year, I already fixed two things: it had to be a sweater and it had to be a darker, strong color but nothing I already had in my closet. In the beginning I considered dark green, but after I discussed it with some friends I decided to look for something in the purple or even aubergine range.

For the pattern I had a look at some books from Lang Yarns, a yarn company from Switzerland. For every season they publisha a new colelction calles Fatto a Mono showing an absolutely amazing style I really love. Contrary to their suggestion I did not use burgundy but purple yarn called Merino 120 (which means a 50 g ball reaches 120 m of yarn, which is great for needles size 3.5 or 4).

Here’s a detail shot of the outer side of a sleeve showing the cable pattern on it. While knitting the easy pattern of the front and back part could be done quite fast, the process for the knittig pattern had to be done in each row twice so I really had to concentrate on it (and get my brain free from other things – an aspect I absolutely love while knitting).

A first for me was the raglan sleeve you can see here. After finishing now it is somethiing looking great and very easy to do …
